The college put out a request for proposals for information technology services
WEST WINDSOR -- About two dozen information technology workers at Mercer County Community College are bracing for possible layoffs as the college looks to reorganize the department.
Earlier this month, the board of trustees passed a resolution authorizing the president to develop a plan to reorganize the IT Department -- a move it says "may require the necessity of a reduction of the IT Department and a corresponding necessity for a reduction in force."

The college also put out a request for proposals for information technology services.
The contract would run for three years starting Feb. 1 and the college would have the option to extend it for two additional one-year periods, according to the RFP.
The IT department provides support for all of the college's information management and technology needs. It's unclear if any of the employees would be offered jobs with the new vendor or elsewhere in the college.
A spokesman was not immediately able to answer questions about the college's plans.
