Denise Daniels replaces longtime Councilman Hector Duke, who died earlier this month
EAST WINDSOR -- Denise Daniels has been appointed to fill the vacancy on East Windsor's council left by longtime Councilman Hector Duke, who died earlier this month.
The township council was unanimous in its Dec. 22 vote for Daniels, who was sworn in that night.
Daniels, who works as the Director of Community Outreach and Volunteer Operations for the United Way of Greater Mercer County, has been a member of the planning board since 2012. She previously served on the township's Economic Development Committee.
For the past eight years, Daniels has also served on the board for the Better Beginnings Childcare Center.
Mayor Janice Mironov praised Daniels for her long record of service to the community and township government.
"A longtime East Windsor resident, she is a highly capable and personable individual who is passionate and caring about what she does," Mironov said. "Denise brings substantial background to the position and a deep commitment to serving the residents of East Windsor. We have all worked with Denise for years ... and know that she will be a great asset and terrific addition to the council."
Daniels said she was excited for the opportunity and looks forward to working with other township officials.
The township will hold its reorganization meeting Friday at 10:45 a.m. in the senior center. Mironov and the other council members re-elected in November -- Marc Lippman, John Zoller and Peter Yeager -- will be administered the oaths of office.
